School of Urban Design, Ahmedabad

In April 2025, we partnered with the School of Urban Design, Ahmedabad, to develop a 1:500 scale architectural model of their flagship institutional tower campus. Designed to represent the bold spatial arrangement and dynamic interaction zones of a modern academic environment, this model served as a visual communication tool for both public exhibitions and internal planning sessions.

The twin towers—connected by a sky bridge and unified through a stepped podium—reflect the future-forward design language of collaborative learning spaces.

Academic Architecture Meets Physical Precision

This institutional model was built to emphasize spatial hierarchy, public-to-private transitions, and vertical circulation logic—all of which are vital in education-based high-rises.

At 1:500 scale, we strategically simplified elements to retain the essence of the gridded façade, sky-level integration, and terraced amphitheater design without overcrowding the model surface. The volumetric clarity made it ideal for walk-throughs, stakeholder briefings, and grant applications.

Built for Presentations, Approvals & Impact

Designed for planning committee presentations, the model was instrumental in explaining the functional distribution of admin, academic, and recreational spaces. It helped illustrate site constraints, green terraces, and student movement zones with clean spatial legibility.

The monochrome format also made it easier for planners and faculty to annotate and discuss zones during workshops without visual distraction.

Highlights:

  • 1:500 scale – perfect for high-density institutional projects

  • Twin towers with sky-bridge connection and shared podium

  • Stepped platform mimics amphitheater-inspired access points

  • Simplified detailing of façade rhythm and tower cores

  • Model based on 3D massing and academic zoning studies

  • Delivered with detachable baseplate for easy transport

Why Scale Models Matter for Institutional Design

Whether you’re planning a university, museum, library, or research facility, a physical model simplifies the storytelling of complex zoning and spatial functionality. This helps architects, donors, and campus planners better understand the development phases, built form, and civic engagement aspects—well before construction begins.
